Furry Friends Welcome: Meet Our Dog Friendly Apartments & Businesses

We’ve heard it all: pup, puppy, pooch, Fido, hound, man’s best friend and many, many more. Dogs go by hundreds of names, but they all mean one thing: a loyal companion who brings you friendship and love for all of their life.

Not only do dogs bring you joy, they can be an asset to your health too. The Center for Disease Control has reported benefits like decreased blood pressure and cholesterol while increasing socialization and exercise. There’s no shortage of good reasons to have a dog in your life.

At Farmers Park, we’re all about keeping your furry friends close to you. We’ve highlighted a few of the dog friendly businesses here at the Park so that your pup can tag along the next time you stop by.

Ellecor Design & Gifts

Whether it’s a dog bed or a human bed, Ellecor is the place to be for finding your design dreams. As you enter, you may be visited by their lead shop dog, Zeke, a friendly labrador who has gladly taken the role of greeter. The owners of Ellecor adopted him at 10 weeks old, and he has remained the shop dog ever since. If you’re lucky, you may spot Callie, a shy two year old Chiweenie who prefers to remain under her blanket and hide during the day.

“The dogs just make work feel more like home,” Hayden Long, an owner of Ellecor, explained. “As designers, we want people to feel comfortable and relaxed and they really make people happy.  Zeke is especially good at entertaining men and kids while the ladies do some shopping.”

5 Pound Apparel

The shop dog at the Farmers Park branch of 5 Pound Apparel is already something of a celebrity thanks to her Instagram following at @lemontheblacklab. Lemon is a playful 2 and a half year old black Labrador who loves showing her tricks off to customers who visit. She’s usually found chilling behind the counter, but loves meeting new people and being shown attention and affection.

Speaking about Lemon, Brina Thomas of 5 Pound Apparel said, “I love having Lemon there because she brings so much joy to the stores and our customers. We have several customers who stop by just to see her.”

Lemon also served as the inspiration for the 5 Pound Pup line of products, including travel dog bowls, rope toys, fetch balls, bandanas and more. The products encourage owners to get their dogs in the Ozarks outdoors and to enjoy time spent together outside. True to their mission of giving back to those in need, 5 Pound Apparel donates 5 pounds of dog food to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri with every purchase of a 5 Pound Pup product. Stop by their Farmers Park or downtown location and find a treat for your puppy.

Farmers Market of the Ozarks

Did you know that your dog can tag along with you when you stop by the Farmers Market? It’s true — by participating in the Farmers Market of the Ozarks Canine Good Citizen Program, you can bring your dog right along with you as you shop the best local produce in town.

In order to ensure the safety of all visitors, dog owners must schedule and pass an evaluation with a CGC trainer, then bring the paperwork to the market hub. After paying the $10 fee and receiving a green FMO bandana for your dog to wear, you will be free to roam!

Hilton Garden Inn

Whether you’re visiting for a daycation, staycation or prolonged vacay, Hilton Garden Inn is the perfect destination for the traveler with pets in tow. After you pay a $75 nonrefundable deposit, your pet can stay in your hotel room with you. The workers themselves are animal enthusiasts and loving welcoming new pet visitors — just ask their recent chinchilla resident!

Farmers Park Apartments

There’s no feeling that is quite as relaxing as coming home after a long day at work to snuggle your dog or go for a brisk, refreshing walk. Farmers Park offers luxury apartments that welcome your furry friends to live right alongside you.

Pets must be at least six months old to live at Farmers Park. You are allowed a maximum of two pets, and the pet fee is a flat fee of $500.

Farmers Park offers ample green space for your dog to roam and enjoy, along with doggy bag stations dotted across the property so that you can clean up after your dog. When an owner resides at Farmers Park, their dogs are immediately allowed to go to the Farmers Market of the Ozarks without going through the mandatory training course. Your dog will also enjoy the several walking trails that connect across the neighborhood, steps away from your new home.
